WordPress’ weekly photo challenge this week is “Green.” Green happens to be my favorite color – because I am Irish? Perhaps!
When I think of green, I think of rainforests, springtime, nature and Latin America. These are a few photos from ziplining through a rainforest in Nicaragua that I think really highlight the color green.

We were told these little guys were pretty poisionous, but I couldn’t help snapping a shot.

Great photos! Green seems to make the rest of the colours pop! I love those caterpillars. 🙂
Your greens are familiar. Many of those grow in my home country. The caterpillar is amazing. 🙂
Thank you for the pingback. 🙂
🙂 Where is your home country Imelda?
Aren’t they awesome!! I couldn’t get too close to take the photo, but they had to be some of the coolest critters I’ve ever seen!!! Thanks for checking it out Diana! Sorry I haven’t been around much – work has been crazed the past few weeks…
There is absolutely no need to be sorry! Hope things settle down for you. xo
Diana
Thanks Diana. Me TOO!!!!!
the first image is comforting to me, as i love to grow those tall ‘native’ heliconias! they make excellent subjects for painting, but my garden is still new here in ecuador and is lacking heliconias.
once while pruning red hibiscus, my hand came in contact with one of those caterpillars. wow, did it ever sting, and the tingling/burning sensation lasted for hours! once was enough for me! i now watch before i touch foliage!
i enjoyed all of the images! thanks for sharing a great post!

Sounds like a plan!!!
Great photos, great theme. Beautiful colour of green with the splash of contrast with the other colours. Thanks for a great lift to begin my day.
Thank YOU for stopping by! 🙂
Lovely photos. You do good work!
Thanks Hugh!!!!! These posts are a little easier for me to pull off when things are crazy at work. Can you tell? 😉 Thanks for checking them out!
As always, beautiful pictures. Favorite green things: Granny Smith apples and guacamole; new leaves in Spring; and a lace Kelly green sweeter I received as a gift.
Oooh, those are good green things. I especially love guacamole. Yum! Thanks for the comment!
Green is my favorite color, too. And the range of greens you’ve captured in these photos, Jen, is exquisite! xoxoM
Thank you, Margarita!!!!
The greens are beautiful. I love that the little boy is so random in the first shot. It is my favorite. You seemed to have captured some beautiful shades amongst the photos. Great job as usual!
Thank you!!! I love the life with the little boy too, for some reason. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hi Jeni. I’ve seen a couple of other interpertations of the green theme. I like the nice pictures of the folage you’ve posted. I like practically all types of plants.
Thanks so much!!!
Gorgeous entry! Where did you go in Nicaragua? I would love to go there! I just booked my next volunteer trip to Honduras and am going the second week of January! I am so excited!
I was in Granada and then a funny village outside Granada. It was when I worked for amigos de las americas. What a beautiful country, but such a sad history.
Someday! How long were you there for? I would love to go to Granada. So much of the world has so much tragedy doesn’t it.
Only 10 days. It was so beautiful, and fascinating. And sad. The fact that Costa Rica is right next door and had been able to fyi so much with ecotourism. Nicaragua has similar resources, but their political history has made that type of ecotourism so much make difficult. Oh well. You should go. You would love it!
It is on my list. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving! Any fun plans? Since we are technically “orphans” here in MN we are going over to a friend’s house which is wonderful as I don’t have to cook a big meal for the four of us. Christmas this year will be insane as we are going to Virginia and seeing everyone on both sides of the family. Crazy! 🙂
We’re blissfully staying home but my mom and her partner come and my hubby and stepdad make a feast. It’s our favorite holiday by far!!! Enjoy your turkey day!!!
Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
Thanks! You too! Hey, where in Virginia is your family and will you be home around Christmas? I will be in Baltimore and would love to meet up!!
Darn! My sister lives near Williamsburg and the other side lives in Warrenton which is an hour and 15 out of DC. They used to live in Laurel, MD. Thinking of a CO ski weekend though…:) Will keep you posted!
Sounds great! Please do!!
It’s so nice to see all those green photos since all we see outside, now, is a snowy cold wonderland. This greenery makes me feel warm. 🙂
I love winter wonderlands!!! Thanks so much for reading!
